Jarrard "Rod" Powell Sr. CLU, REBC, CLCS Agency Principal

Jarrard "Rod" Powell Sr. has over 20 years of leadership experience and training across multiple lines of commercial insurance. His areas of expertise include risk management program development, employee benefits consulting, and business risk mitigation. Rod serves as Agency Principal of Encore Insurance Group, where he is responsible for strategic growth, operational leadership, and client development. He is recognized for building strong partnerships and fostering long-term client relationships through the delivery of tailored solutions, practical risk mitigation strategies, and exceptional client service.

Powell holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Strayer University and has earned the CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter), REBC (Registered Employee Benefits Consultant), and CLCS (Certified Life Consultant Specialist) designations. In addition, Rod is a licensed Property and Casualty Agent and Life and Health Consultant. He is an adjunct professor at Virginia Commonwealth University, a national board member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAAIA), and a board member of the Virginia Association of Insurance Agents (VAIA). Rod is also an accomplished author and thought leader committed to advancing insurance education and financial literacy in underserved communities.

Calvin Royster Jr, Vice President

Calvin Royster Jr. brings over 10 years of experience in commercial insurance and risk management, with deep expertise in property and casualty insurance, workers' compensation, and business protection strategies. As Vice President of Encore Insurance Group, Calvin leads the commercial insurance division and is instrumental in strategic growth and client development. He is recognized for his ability to translate complex insurance concepts into practical, actionable strategies that protect businesses and mitigate risk. Calvin's commitment to financial education and community empowerment extends beyond his agency operations into thought leadership across the insurance industry.

Calvin is the author of the "Black Millennial's Declassified Guide: Survival Guide to Insurance," a practical resource offering money-saving strategies and financial advice to millennials and their families. He is frequently called upon by organizations and business groups as a subject matter expert to educate business owners on commercial insurance, risk mitigation, and financial protection strategies. Calvin's insights help organizations understand the critical role of comprehensive insurance coverage in building resilient, sustainable businesses. Beyond his professional achievements, Calvin is a dedicated father, youth sports coach, and active community member committed to building financial literacy and opportunity in underserved communities.

Clifton Durham, Managing Director-Personal Lines

Clifton Durham Jr. brings over 20 years of sales and customer service expertise to the insurance industry. As Managing Director of Personal Lines at Encore Insurance Group, Clifton specializes in home, auto, and individual life insurance solutions that protect what matters most. Previously, as founder of TD3 Insurance Agency & Associates and a highly awarded Liberty Mutual corporate field agent, he successfully led the DC-Maryland-Virginia auto division for two consecutive years and consistently exceeded annual premium targets. Clifton is recognized for his ability to find the best coverage at the best value and deliver exceptional customer service while building lasting relationships with clients.

Clifton is deeply committed to community engagement and industry leadership. He is an active member of the Virginia Black Chamber of Commerce and serves as a board member of the National African American Insurance Association (NAAIA) Central Virginia Chapter. Clifton is also a featured contributor on the nationally syndicated podcast "Twomics Up," which reaches audiences across seven countries, and co-hosts the weekly podcast "CSC All Things Real Estate & Insurance," where he educates listeners on current events, real estate, and insurance topics. A dedicated professional, father, and husband, Clifton is driven by his commitment to protecting families and building wealth through comprehensive insurance solutions.
